Your Cloudflare

Your R2 buckets as folders. Your files stay in your account.

What R2 Is

Cloudflare R2 is object storage: buckets in your Cloudflare account that hold files. It speaks the S3 API, so tools built for Amazon S3 work with it, and Cloudflare Workers reach a bucket directly.

  • No egress fees: reading your files out of R2 costs nothing per gigabyte.
  • Two storage classes: Standard, and Infrequent Access for files you rarely read.
  • A free tier every month on Standard: 10 GB of storage, 1 million Class A and 10 million Class B operations. See what R2 costs.

On its own, R2 is storage, not a folder: no app in Finder, no history of a file (an overwrite or a delete is final) and no share link with a password. Folder adds those, below.

Connect

Sign in with Apple, then connect Cloudflare. On the first screen that is In Your Cloudflare; later, the web’s folder list has Connect Cloudflare. You pick the buckets, and each one shows up as a folder in Finder, the Files app and on the web.

If you have no bucket yet, you can make one on the same page.

What Folder Puts in Your Account

A few small workers, named folder-* and tagged, so you can see them in your Cloudflare dashboard. They give your buckets what R2 doesn’t have on its own: versions, share links and invites. Uninstalling removes every trace.

Your files live in your Cloudflare account and we are never in the data path: the apps read and write your bucket through the workers in your own account.

What It Costs

Your bill is Cloudflare’s bill, usually $0. R2 storage is cheap and has no egress fees. Cloudflare bills you directly; we never see the bill. Signed in at folder.dev, Settings › Your Cloudflare › Usage, Costs and Updates shows what your folders keep there, old versions included, and this month at R2’s list price.

What You Get on Top of R2

  • Every overwrite and delete kept and restorable. See history.
  • Share links with a password or an expiry, on your own account. See share links.
  • Invites that put the folder in someone else’s Finder, with no Cloudflare login for them. See invites.
