On iPhone and iPad

Your folders in the Files app, and a link from any file.

Folder for iPhone and iPad is not in the App Store yet. Until it is, every folder on Folder or in your Cloudflare opens in any browser at folder.dev; see on the web. A folder on this Mac stays on that Mac.

Where It Works

  • On Folder: in the Files app, Upload, Recent Links, History. Its links open only for you.
  • In Your Cloudflare: all of that, plus share links for other people and Shared Links.
  • On This Mac: not on iPhone or iPad.

The Folders

The app lists your folders under On Folder and In Your Cloudflare, with Shared Links and Settings below. On iPad they are the sidebar. The + adds a folder: Add a Folder asks Where It Lives (On Folder or In Your Cloudflare) and a name, the one the folder has in Files. For a folder in your Cloudflare, a sheet lists the R2 buckets in your account to tick; if Cloudflare is not connected yet, it asks you there, once.

Invited to a folder? Open an Invite takes the whole link you were sent, and the folder appears in Files with no sign-in.

In the Files App

Your folders are in the Files app, under Locations. Open in Files at the top of a folder’s page goes straight there. Files you add in Files are uploaded, and every overwrite and delete is kept. See history.

A Folder’s Page

  • Open in Files and Upload. Upload picks files and gives each one a link.
  • Recent Links: the last five links made from this folder, each with Copy Link.
  • This Folder: Files (every file, with its tags and history), Uploads Go To (the folder inside it where uploads land), Restore Points and Open on the Web.
  • On This iPhone (or iPad): In Files, off to hide the folder from Files and keep its key, and Notify Me About Changes, for when someone else adds files.
  • Unmount: the folder leaves Files and the device forgets its key. Nothing in the folder changes; sign in again to bring it back.

The ••• menu has Sync Now, Save Restore Point… (the whole folder as it is now, restorable from its history on the web) and Folder Settings on the Web.

A File

In a folder’s Files, touch and hold a file: Open, Copy Link, Open on the Web, Share… (in your Cloudflare), History… and Tags. History lists every version with who made it; Restore makes one the current version, and the one it replaces stays in history. Save a Copy brings a version back beside the file.

Every link made from a folder in your Cloudflare, with Copy Link and Stop. A link past its date is under Stopped Working, and Share Again makes the same link work again. See share links.

Settings

Your account and your handle (claimed on the web, and in every link to your files), your devices, each one renamable or removable, and, with a folder in your Cloudflare, Sharing: who a new link opens for, when it ends, Copy the Link and Ask Every Time.
