# Folder vs ExpanDrive

ExpanDrive mounts S3, Google Drive, Dropbox and more as drives, free for personal use. Folder is for Cloudflare R2, with every version kept and share links.

ExpanDrive mounts many clouds and servers as drives, on three systems; Cloudflare R2 is not in its list. Folder is built for R2. This compares Folder in your Cloudflare; a folder on Folder needs no R2 at all.

- Pick Folder: Your files are in Cloudflare R2, or you want a folder of your own with every version kept.
- Pick ExpanDrive: You work on Windows or Linux too, or your files are in S3, Google Drive, SharePoint or on a server.

| | ExpanDrive | Folder, in your Cloudflare |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Connects to | S3, Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV and more; not R2 | Your Cloudflare R2 buckets |
| In Finder | A drive, an OS-level volume next to your local folders | A folder under Locations, through File Provider |
| A deleted file comes back | As each cloud keeps it | Every overwrite and delete kept |
| Price | Free for personal use; a paid Business plan | Cloudflare's bill, usually $0 |
| Runs on | Mac, Windows and Linux | Mac and the web; the iPhone app is not in the App Store yet |
